Introductions

Because we support businesses of all shapes and sizes, no two days are the same at the North East Growth Hub. Entrepreneurs and business owners reach out to us because they’re looking for help to either start or scale a business. The first step is always listening; what support do they need? We then signpost them to a range of business support and finance and funding schemes that meet their individual requirements. We’re a same day service too, people can expect a swift reply and start taking action right away.

It’s a very client-facing role, which I enjoy. Both Dawid and I have experience of starting and running a business, so we can sympathise with many of the challenges business owners experience. We’re both very sociable too and genuinely enjoy helping businesses tackle some of their challenges. It’s hugely rewarding to support people in growing their business.

Why is the North East Growth Hub such a valuable resource for the region’s business community?

There’s a lot of support available for businesses in the North East, and it can often be complicated and confusing for people to find the specific help they need. The North East Growth Hub is there to provide some clarity and help businesses when they don’t know where to start. We’re a really good jumping off point for entrepreneurs and business owners because we collate all the business support and finance and funding available throughout the region - everything from Berwick-upon-Tweed in Northumberland down to Barnard Castle in County Durham.

A simple phone call with us can make a real difference to people.

How does the North East Growth Hub support organisations that benefit the community?

We work with a lot of charities and community interest companies (CIC) at the North East Growth Hub. I’ve always really enjoyed working with these purpose-driven organisations.

There is a good range of support available to CICs, from mentoring and events, right through to grant funding and access to finance.

Helping organisations that want to improve opportunities for people and communities right across the North East is a fantastic thing to be part of.
