Disrupting Dementia Design
An immersive event to challenge the 'old' and inspire new innovations for Dementia
- Are you designing products and services for people living with Dementia?
- Are you designing products and services for those caring for people living with Dementia?
- Are you designing new systems to support organisations to deliver better services for the Dementia community?
This event will give you a deeper understanding of the dementia landscape, how people living with dementia feel/react to situations, as well as hearing from and speaking with thought leaders.
As part of this event, you are invited to take a simulated walk in the footsteps of a person living with dementia and experience their everyday challenges and frustrations. There will be a Mobile Virtual Dementia Bus - an immersive activity that allows people to experience first-hand the isolation and fear that people with dementia often encounter.
Goggles replicate impaired vision, gloves restrict movement and shoe inserts create peripheral neuropathy through the interactive simulated activities on the bus.
This thought-provoking session aims to inspire innovation by challenging the status quo and stimulating new thinking about products and services needed to support those living with and those caring for people living with dementia.
Learn from our expert speakers and hear about new opportunities for joint research and innovation grants to inspire innovation in this field with an invite to hear from world leading dementia expert Professor Dame Louise Robinson (Regius Professsor of Ageing) with contributions from Dr Alison Killen (Research Associate - Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre) and an Admiral Nurse (a specialist providing life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia).
This event will be of interest to anyone working in the dementia space, companies developing solutions for dementia and anyone involved in caring for people living with dementia.
