This course is designed to introduce you to principles and theories relating to leadership and relate these to your workplace and role.

You will explore your own qualities and attributes through the lens of leadership, to increase your self-awareness, and to understand and explain your behaviour and effectiveness in a work context.

The content can be summarized under the following themes:

• An introduction to leadership theories, including transactional, transformational, situational, and authentic leadership. You will also consider the differences between management and leadership and explore what you consider to be the qualities of a “great” leader.
• You will be asked to complete a diagnostic designed to increase your self-awareness and to reflect upon your leadership qualities and attributes
• Finally, you will consider the implications for effectiveness in your current role and your future development and career aspirations.
