NBSL, in partnership with the North East Combined Authority and Northumberland County Council have launched the Better People Management Programme (previously the In Work Support Programme) thanks to funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The programme has been designed to help Businesses in Newcastle, North Tyneside or Northumberland to keep and develop their staff

Struggling with Staff issues? Up to 12-hours of Fully Funded Expert HR support is available now for a limited period to improve your approach to:
- Recruitment
- Retention
- Staff Development and Progression
- Managing your HR Processes
- Building the Resilience of your Staff
Eligibility
Eligible businesses in Northumberland, Newcastle or North Tyneside with HR/People Management challenges/issues can access up to 12-hours of fully funded expert HR support through this programme.
The Better People Management Programme can only be accessed by a company once per phase. Companies that have accessed the initial phase of the Better People Management Programme (Previously titled the In Work Support Programme), prior to March 2025, are eligible to apply again, however the programme can only provide support that is completely independent from that provided in the initial phase.
Support Detail
Businesses can benefit from the following:
- Diagnostic support to clearly identify areas where support can help to develop Better People Management approaches
- Access to up to 12 hours of Fully Funded Expert HR support to develop and implement solutions to address HR issues
- Access to fully funded Specialist Workshops on topics related to Better People Management
