Gateshead Council is pleased to offer businesses in the Borough grants of up to £5000 to support initiatives to get staff and customers walking, cycling and using public transport- improving air quality and health across Gateshead. Businesses can use the grant to improve cycle parking or staff changing facilities, purchase public transport passes for staff use, buy a bike or put towards the cost of an e-bike or e-cargo bike- whatever your staff or customers need to get them out of their cars.
Businesses who are successful will need to sign up to Modeshift STARs, the Council's new travel monitoring system. There will be an initial survey to complete and then a survey after 6 months to establish if sustainable travel has increased at your site. Anyone is welcome to join Modeshift, even if you don't apply for a grant.
