Key Fund

The Key Fund invests in incorporated Community and Social Enterprises that have traditionally been excluded and turned down by mainstream lenders; particularly those in disadvantaged areas. 

It provides finance – both loans and grant/loan packages – to support the development or growth of sustainable trading activity, including cash-flow, working capital, and asset development or purchase to help our investees to build and strengthen their local communities and create a positive social impact.

The organisations that the Key Fund supports must have clearly stated social aims and objectives and fit one of the following descriptions: 

• Not for private profit
• Asset locked 
• Have clear policies or restrictions around profit distribution

Whilst there are several funds available and the team are happy to discuss which of these might be the most suitable for your organisation’s needs, the main one is the Northern Impact Fund 2:

The principle terms of the Fund are: 

• Investment from £5,000 to £150,000
• Term 1 -5 years

Three product options as follows:

• Product 1 – up to 30% of the loan amount as grant, interest rate at 6.5%, arrangement fee of 1%
• Product 2 – up to 18% of the loan amount as grant, interest rate at 4%, arrangement fee of 1%
• Product 3 – Shariah compliant with no interest, arrangement fee of 3.5%
