Resources include:
- Hard-copy books – A wide selection of reference and lending material for every aspect of your business including marketing, accounting, inventing, business start-up, data protection, and intellectual property rights;
- Journals – You can get access to specialist reference resources which include directories, magazines, and journals.
- Subscription databases – Online business histories, financial information, and market reports in a collection of databases which have a greater range and depth of information than standard search engines. Subscriptions include COBRA (Complete Business Reference Adviser); British Standards Online; company information resource D&B; market research databases Mintel Oxygen and IBISWorld UK.
Protect your idea
Newcastle City Library is a designated PATLIB UK centre, and is supported by both the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office. It is the only library between Leeds and Glasgow that offers specialist patent information.
Staff at BIPC North East offer free one-to-one intellectual property (IP) surgeries. During these surgeries, an IP adviser explains the basics of intellectual property, how to protect it and why it should be protected.
Commercialise your idea
It helps businesses and start-ups, across the region, to understand, protect and exploit your intellectual property.
IP is relevant to commercial creations and innovations. These creations and innovations include brand iconography and company names, artistic and photographic work, inventions, designs and literary works. IP is protected by IP law and comprises patents, copyright, trademarks and designs.
In addition to the free intellectual property support offered, we deliver free workshops, one-to-one support on a range of business topics, to help businesses develop their ideas, start-up and grow.
