The North East Farming Support Service provides tailored advice and support for businesses across the North East to grow and thrive. The service supports rural businesses across the whole of the North East including Northumberland, Durham and Gateshead. 

The North East Rural Growth Programme is funded by the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority, with Northumberland County Council as the Lead Delivery Partner, supported by Durham County Council, Gateshead Council, Northumberland National Park Authority, Food and Drink North East Limited, and North East Enterprise Agency.

Northumberland National Park Authority delivers the farm business support on behalf of the North East Rural Growth Programme from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029.

The service delivers:

  • A holistic approach to one-to-one advice tailored to individual farm businesses
  • Farmer led one-to-many support including workshops, events, and knowledge sharing
  • Signposting to further bespoke advice where specialist support is needed
