      The Shott Scale Up Accelerator is a twelve-month programme that develops, nurtures and strengthens the leadership capabilities of senior decision-makers in high-growth engineering and tech SMEs to scale their business to the next level.

      The Royal Academy of Engineering know the leap from technical expert to business leader is as difficult as the growing pains of a company. The Shott Scale Up Accelerator places the personal development of leaders at the heart of its activities, with opportunities for peer learning in cohorts dedicated to deep tech SMEs.

      What is provided?

      This programme is designed to equip you with the leadership skills to successfully scale up your company. The unique package of funding and training includes:

      • A grant of up to £10,000 to take up leadership training anywhere in the world
      • 35 hours of growth trainingOne-to-one leadership coaching and mentoring
      • Access to our 100+ investor network with opportunities to pitch
      • An individual relationship manager to guide you through the programme and connect you to investors, corporates and experts
      • Subsidised access to Culture+, our equality, diversity and inclusion platform designed to help SMEs develop inclusive cultures
      • Lifetime membership of the Enterprise Hub to use our co-working spaces, connections and mentoring opportunities.

      Who can apply?

      The applicant

      • Both engineers and non-engineers who work at engineering and technology SMEs based in the UK are welcome to apply.
      • Applicants of any nationality are eligible as long as you have the right to work in the UK.
      • Only one individual from a company can apply per round of the programme.
      • The Academy is committed to diversity and welcomes nominations and applications from women and other groups who are currently under-represented across engineering, as well as recognising the full breadth of engineering.

      The company

      • Applicants from both pre and post revenue high growth SMEs are eligible to apply. Your associated company must have cumulatively raised at least £1million through either equity investment (from inception), turnover in the last financial year (excluding grants or consultancy), or a combination of both.
      • Applicants from companies operating in the MedTech sector will also be considered eligible if they have raised at least £1million through grant funding and equity investment since inception.
      • Applicants must come from a company based in the UK and registered with Companies House. For multinational companies, the Head Office must be based in the UK.
      • Only applicants from SMEs who aren't wholly or majority owned by another company are eligible (SME as per the EU definition).
      • Applications cannot be accepted from individuals in consultancies.
      • Software companies must exhibit engineering as their core component and should be innovative and protectable.
