Data protection for beginners
An introduction to data protection and the Information Commissioner’s Office for new businesses and start-ups.
28 January 2025 is Data Protection Day. To celebrate, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) are delighted to deliver this webinar as an introduction to data protection laws. It’s particularly useful for those who are new to data protection, and those who would like to ask questions about how the law applies to their business.
Data protection experts from the ICO’s Business Services team will share bite-sized advice and tips to help you put data protection law into practice in your small business. Starting with the data protection basics, you’ll also get practical guidance on responding to people’s requests, keeping personal information secure, personal data breaches and direct marketing to support the day-to-day running of your business.
Four questions the webinar will answer:
- How do I put data protection into practice in my business?
- What rights do people have over their personal information?
- What do I need to do to keep people’s information safe?
- How can I market my business and still comply with the law?
